Kristen got a mobile phone when she was 16 and hasn’t been without it since. It was with her when she earned her private pilot’s license; when she attended finance and marketing classes at the University of Maryland; and when she studied Non-Profit Management & Policy at NYU. Her cellphone was always at her side when she lived in Spain, Kenya, Guatemala, and Tanzania -- inconspicuously helping her out with a Spanish word she didn’t recognize and letting her capture the view from the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. She thought mobile technology was so transformative she even joined a leading global telecommunications company and has worked with mobile phone users on four continents. Now working from South Africa, Kristen continues to be passionate and driven by the knowledge that little by little, mobile technology will reach women across Tanzania and change their lives for the better.
